It’s Georgia PreK week!
Our staff has had so much fun celebrating Georgia PreK week across our community this week. Here’s how we are celebrating:
We delivered our first-ever PreK Book Bundles to every child enrolled in Clarke County School District’s PreK program! Over 600 students received their September “book bundle,” which includes 3 specially selected brand new books, video read alouds of each title, and early literacy resources for caregivers.
We got started filming additional video content for future book bundles, funded by a grant through the United Way of Northeast Georgia! Every month, families will receive video content in both English & Spanish with tips on how to support early reading at home.
Our Storytellers Program Manager, Colleen Craven, had the chance to Our staff got to join State Representative Houston Gaines in a #GaPreKWeek reading of CHEER: A Book To Celebrate Community by Uncle Ian Aurora & Natalia Moore. This book was included in our September Book Bundle, which means every child enrolled in CCSD PreK got to take a copy home for keeps!
At Books for Keeps, we have seen firsthand the value of early reading and early access to books in the home, and we are so grateful for all the ways that we are able to support these efforts!
